Privacy Policy
Effective October 26, 2026 · Last updated October 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Homestockr LLC ("we", "us") handles information in connection with the SproutsPro mobile app (the "App"). SproutsPro is a local-first gardening app. It works on your device, with no account, and it does not send your personal information to us.
1. The short version
- We do not collect, store, or receive your personal information. We run no servers that receive data from the App.
- There are no user accounts, no ads, no analytics, and no tracking.
- Your garden data stays on your device, unless you export a backup to a place you choose or your device's own backup service copies it.
- The App connects to the internet in two cases only:
- Optional weather. If you turn on weather, the App sends a coarse, approximate location (derived from a ZIP code you type) to the U.S. National Weather Service to get your forecast and frost advisories.
- Purchases. The App asks the Apple App Store or Google Play whether you own the SproutsPro unlock or trial, and the store handles any purchase. That exchange happens between your device and the store, under the store's privacy policy.
2. Information stored on your device
Everything you create in the App stays in on-device storage that we can't access: your garden profile and frost dates, beds and layout, plantings, tasks, harvest logs, journal entries and photos, supplies, and settings.
The App also keeps two records on your device so the trial and unlock work:
- whether you've unlocked the App;
- the date your free trial started.
These two records are not included in exported backups. That way a backup file can't be edited to unlock the App or restart the trial.
3. ZIP code, frost dates and weather (optional)
The App does not request or use your device's GPS or location permission.
- Local features. You may type a ZIP code. The App looks up your area's typical frost and freeze dates on your device, from data bundled with the App. The ZIP code itself is not stored. The App keeps only the dates it found.
- Weather (off unless you turn it on). The App converts the ZIP, on your device, to the approximate center point of that ZIP area, a coarse latitude and longitude. It sends that point over HTTPS to the U.S. National Weather Service (
api.weather.gov) to look up your local forecast grid and forecast. The request goes straight from your device to the National Weather Service. We never receive or log it. - To keep weather working, the App stores only that coarse forecast grid reference on your device. Turning weather off deletes it.
- This coarse location is used only to provide the weather feature. It is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising.
4. Purchases and the free trial
SproutsPro is free to download. To start the 14-day free trial, you tap "Start free trial". On iPhone, starting the trial is a free ($0) App Store item. After the trial, a one-time in-app purchase unlocks the App. There is no subscription.
- The store processes all payments. Apple or Google handles your purchase under its own terms and privacy policy. We never see your name, email, payment details, or receipt.
- To check whether you own the unlock or trial, the App asks the store quietly when it starts and when you return to it. The store answers your device, not us.
- Google Play's billing system includes Google's own software components, which may send technical information to Google as part of Play's service, under Google's privacy policy.
- The stores may give us aggregate sales reports, such as the number of purchases by country. These don't identify you.
5. Notifications
If you allow notifications, the App schedules reminders (for example sowing, transplanting and harvest) and, with weather on, frost alerts. All of this is scheduled on your device. We operate no notification server and send no push messages.
6. Photos and camera
When you add a photo to a journal entry, the App uses your device's camera or photo picker, and only at that moment. Photos are saved in the App's storage on your device. The App doesn't upload them anywhere.
7. Backups
- Backups you export. You can export a backup file and restore from it, and you choose where it goes, for example your own cloud storage or downloads. We never receive backup files. Backups are in a plain, unencrypted format, so keep them somewhere you trust. They contain your garden data and the names of your journal photo files, but not the photos themselves.
- Your device's own backup. Your phone's built-in backup service (iCloud Backup, or Google's Android backup) may include the App's data, depending on your device settings. That copy is handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us.
8. No accounts, ads, tracking, or analytics
The App has no login or account system. We don't show ads, don't include advertising or analytics software, don't use cookies or device identifiers for tracking, and don't build user profiles.
9. Children's privacy
The App is a general-audience gardening tool and is not directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children, and because we collect none at all, none is collected from anyone through the App. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us at support@sproutspro.com.
10. Third parties
- U.S. National Weather Service (
api.weather.gov). Receives the coarse location described in Section 3, and only when weather is on. Its own policies govern those requests. - Apple App Store and Google Play. Handle downloads, purchases, the trial, and purchase checks (Section 4) under their own terms and privacy policies.
- Your chosen backup destination, and your device's backup service. Their privacy policies govern the copies they hold (Section 7).
We don't sell, rent, or share personal information, because we don't collect it.
11. Data retention and deletion
Your data is stored on your device, so you control how long it's kept.
- Delete individual records in the App at any time.
- Deleting the App removes its on-device data, subject to your operating system's behavior.
- A backup you exported stays wherever you saved it until you delete it.
- We keep nothing on our side, so there's nothing for us to delete. If you have a question about this, contact us (Section 15).
12. Your choices
- Leave weather off. The App then sends no location anywhere.
- Turn off notifications in your device settings at any time.
- Delete records or backups, or uninstall the App.
13. Region and data sources
SproutsPro is offered in the United States and is not intended for use outside the U.S. Frost and freeze estimates are derived from NOAA U.S. Climate Normals, made available under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license. NOAA does not endorse SproutsPro.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date on this page and, for material changes, show a notice in the App. If you keep using the App after an update, you accept the revised policy.
